good friday morning, everyone! it is another chilly morning here along the lake-----only 37 degrees so far, but the sun is shining, and the birds are singing.......and it feels like it is going to be a good day today! ========= this has been a busy week here at our house.....we have had a lot of odds and ends to take care of this week.....these things were not exciting, so i will spare you the details.....however, i am happy to report that we did get everything done here, so we are glad about that.... ========== ian left on a 1-2 week business trip yesterday after lunch....so, i am missing him a lot already..... i am so fortunate that he is so great about keeping in touch while he is away....i get phone calls and emails every day.....he is such a great guy! =========== ian had an almost 4-hour delay at the airport....this was due to the sequester, and a lack of air traffic controllers.......however, i heard on the news this morning that congress is going to fix that..... .i guess they will have the air traffic controllers go back to work, and make other cuts that will just affect other people....how is that better???? just wondering..... ================= i have been gather since july, 2010-------guess what? i realized i am FIVE POINTS away from cashing in for the second time ever!.....i want to get a $25 amazon card, so i can use that to help me get my grandson some stuff for his birthday, which is in july.... do you think i can get 5 points soon?...that would be soooo cool!! =============== in spite of the cold weather and endless rain here, there are FINALLY signs of spring.....we now have buds on our red leaf plum, and more daffodils and grape hyacinths are blooming in our front garden.... when i go around town, doing my errands, i notice that the forsynthias are just starting to bloom, and there are buds on all the magnolias.... there is something so wonderful about watching everything come to life again in spring.... ============= the moon has been amazingly bright and beauiful the past couple of nights....check it out tonight, if you can.... last night it was a pale yellow, and the night before last it was a silvery-gray.....WOW! ============ as many of you know, this weekend my grandson was supposed to go on a 3-day wilderness survival weekend....... well, he found out last night, about 10pm, that it has been cancelled for the SECOND time....and it sounded like some sort of phony-baloney excuse to me...... he is SOOO disappointed......and we are all wondering if/when he will get his money back....it was VERY expensive..... also, this was the 2nd time he got a 3-day weekend off, only to have the classes cancelled....he may have a problem trying to get another weekend off, as he normally works all weekend, and they depend on him..... ============== well, that is all the news and views from here for today, so i will sign off... have a great day everyone! blessings

A young and successful executive was traveling down a neighborhood street, going a bit too fast in his new Jaguar. He was watching for kids darting out from between parked cars and slowed down when he thought he saw something. As his car passed, no children appeared. Instead, a brick smashed into the Jag's side door! He slammed on the brakes and backed the Jag back to the spot where the brick had been thrown. The angry driver then jumped out of the car, grabbed the nearest kid and pushed him up against a parked car shouting, "What was that all about and who are you? Just what the heck are you doing? That's a new car and that brick you threw is going to cost a lot of money. Why did you do it?" The young boy was apologetic. "Please, mister... please, I'm sorry but I didn't know what else to do," He pleaded. "I threw the brick because no one else would stop... " With tears dripping down his face and off his chin, the youth pointed to a spot just around a parked car. "It's my brother," he said. "He rolled off the curb and fell out of his wheelchair and I can't lift him up." Now sobbing, the boy asked the stunned executive, "Would you please help me get him back into his wheelchair? He's hurt and he's too heavy for me." Moved beyond words, the driver tried to swallow the rapidly swelling lump in his throat. He hurriedly lifted the handicapped boy back into the wheelchair, then took out a linen handkerchief and dabbed at the fresh scrapes and cuts. A quick look told him everything was going to be okay. "Thank you and may God bless you," the grateful child told the stranger. Too shook up for words, the man simply watched the boy push his wheelchair-bound brother down the sidewalk toward their home. It was a long, slow walk back to the Jaguar. The damage was very noticeable, but the driver never bothered to repair the dented side door. He kept the dent there to remind him of this message. "Don't go through life so fast that someone has to throw a brick at you to get your attention!" God whispers in our souls and speaks to our hearts. Sometimes when we don't have time to listen, He has to throw a brick at us. It's our choice to listen or not.

i tiptoe into our room, where my love lies sleeping, bathed in the silver wonder that is the springtime moon....... he is sound asleep, a small smile playing with his parted lips, showing a hint of charmingly white teeth....... but what i notice most is how completely relaxed and at peace he is..... like an innocent child, boyish, sweet, and untouched by a harsh world of unpleasant realities..... framed in moonlight, he becomes the child i never knew, and i understand and recognize another facet of who he is today, and why---- as he rests in the moonlight, halfway to tomorrow......
